Just one bite - why trigger's can kill you

It is clear to me that I have only lost weight by eliminating triggers. My worst diet trigger has been eating foods with sugar in them. After I eat sugar my cravings increase and it usually ends with a binge of 1,000 plus calories.
My advice to you if you suffer from binges that are killing your diet efforts is that you try to analyze after a binge or diet crash what the first bite was that triggered the event. If you are able to do this you can then turn your failure into a learning experience.

  1. Thanks Neil. I too am a sugarholic. Here's what Doc taught me. take L-Glutamine and it will tame those sugar cravings.

And for me, the worst trigger is emotional upset. I've always been an emotional eater and I still don't really have this conquered. If only I could think of something else to do. Chewing gum sometimes works. But if I'm really upset, then its candy bars. However I will say this week, stuck in Penn Station reading the tax return, I found the candy bar actually made me nauseous. Now that's a good sign, don't you think?
