Protein Power vs Atkins

Recently I purchased "The Protein Power Lifeplan" by Michael R Eades MD and Mary Dan Eades MD because I have been very impressed by his blog posts. In my mind Dr Eades is the smartest doctor advocate of low carb eating. In fact the only problem someone might have with the book I am reading is there is too much information. So if you are looking for a simple explanation of his plan you have to wade through over 200 pages to get there.

So what are the differences between protein power and Atkins?

First Dr Eades does believe that in order to lose weight calories should be reduced. He also stipulates the amount of protein one should eat to be healthy per meal as well as the amounts of ECC ( which seems to be like net carbs ) per meal.

So far I like Protein Power more than Atkins. Especially since their spoksepeople are alive !

  1. Dr. Atkins would be alive if he hadn't hit his head. Can't hold that against him! :)

  2. No - of course not. Jut a diet as contrarian as low carb is works better with someone to lead the charge.

  3. I completely agree, Neil. I thought you were implying his contrarian diet killed him, since we low carbers get that a lot. I should have known that wasn't what you meant. Enjoy your day. :)
